MWC Championship!!! Western Basin Lake Erie.. |
|
''Congrats'' go's out to ''Bob'' (Chartertalk) and partner ''Steve'' on your 3rd place finish in the MWC Championship.. Nice job having to deal with the 45-50 mile one-way runs in big wind, big waves, and lots of cold rain the last 3 days.. Your program and luck came just a few bites short of the big pay-out.. Very nice job toughing out those 3 days..

Thanks for the words.
It has been a long hard wk driving 90 miles plus each day in 3-5 footers. I am glad we have a 21' Ranger. Despite being a bit slower it handles the rough stuff much better. It was not easy just getting there taking up to 1.5 hrs of driving did not leave us much time to fish. There were a number of issues with some boats with 1 sinking(filling) and the team had to be rescued by the USCG. Windshields broke. electric motors, graphs and mahy other problems.
To come in 3rd against the top 40 teams in the country(USA) is an accomplishment I am proud of. Steve and I did our homework and stuck with our game plan of fishing a shoal near Kellys Island knowing that 75# would be in the top 10. We were on 5# fish but conditions changed on day 3 only coming to the scales with 3 fish. We were pretty bummed thinking we may have dropped to 7 or 8th. Surprizingly the other top teams struggled when dirty water and rough seas made fishing tough on day 3. We actually only lost 1 fish the first 2 days and it only pulled the board back, With the dirtier water on day 3 we missed 2 fish that were on, but that is tournament fishing.
Next up is the BPS Simcoe Open. bass tournament, I will be fishing that with good friend Dave Kennedy from Huntsville.

Here are 2 pics from the event. One is a redneck Ram Mount and the other is the disadvantage of having a full windshield.
Willie Casper chose to Duct tape his graph as preventative maintenance.
