Post Homemade Tarter Sauce Reply with quote
I was asked if I would post my recipe for homemade tarter sauce. Here is the one I use.

1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup chopped dill pickles
2 teaspoons dill pickle juice
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons chopped green onion
2 teaspoons lemon juice (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste

I use Lemon juice as well as pickle juice from the dill pickle jar, but lemon juice is optional.

Add a few drops of Tabasco Sauce or Frank's Red Hot if you like a bit more zest. 6-8 drops.

Mix all ingredients together and seal in a bowl. Chill for an hour before serving.

2 parts mayonnaise
1part sour cream
2 teaspoons diced canned capers ( and a bit of the juice)
Lots of fresh dill
Fresh Lemmon juice

Taste and more of what you think it needs. Great with Panko style fish.

Have you tried it or similar? Those proportions are just a guess. Have to make it and taste/add as you go.

My version.....2 tbs of mayo
2 tbs of sr cream
2 tsp of capers
1 green garlic stuffed olive
sprinkle with dill to taste

Squeeze the capers and olive through a garlic press.
Helps if you cut up first.
I find there is enough juice from the pressing.
Some brans of mayo are stronger than others so I find I need to adjust things to taste as always.

Great idea for the capers. As I recall, I think I make mine closer to yours, it’s about half and half mayo and sour cream.
