Whats your favourite recipe/cooking method for Bows? |
|
hey everyone.. I just got my first batch of Bows and have never cooked them before..
Tonight we filleted one and used Cronzey's batter in a pan with butter and oil.. We still have 5 more bows left in the freezer to try different cooking methods..
How do you like to cook yours??
Cheers,
Chris

Without a doubt my favourite method of cooking bows is on a cedar plank board with seasoning on the bbq. Another favourite is marinated bacon wrapped pieces on the bbq. I will dig up my recipe and post shortly.

Here is a link to a friends webpage. On Trophy Takers page you will see the cedar plank and bacon wrapped recipes. There are some good ones on Drifters web page as well.

we BBQ'd a whole gutted bow tonight.. stuffed with peppers, onions, butter, couple little pieces of lemon and some spices.. came out excellent.. alot easier than filleting the whole thing.. bones come out nice and easy.. even the ones i missed i didnt notice when i ate it..
I didnt think i would like rainbow trout as i only like perch and eyes normally.. but i've acquired a taste for Bows.. they are great eating fish..

Found this on allrecipes.com today. Turned out really good.
Asian Rainbow Trout
Ingredients:
4 (6 ounce) fillets boneless, skinless
rainbow trout
2 teaspoons soy sauce
salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon white sugar 1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
4 green onions, chopped
Directions:
1. Rub trout fillets with soy sauce. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar; set aside.
2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic, ginger, and green onions; cook and stir until golden brown. Add trout fillets and cook until browned and crispy, about 3 minutes. Turn fillets over, and continue cooking until the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 3 minutes more.
