Roast Wild Turkey Recipes |
|
I got my first ever wild turkey this year, and plan to roast it.
Anybody have a favorite recipe or any disaster avoidance suggestions they could share.
The 'Super East Turkey' from Big Dog doesn't quite sound like what I was hoping for!

Hi,
I crock pot the legs in chicken stock......separate the meat and use for turkey sandwich or turkey pot pie.
The breast meat.....I clean up, remove "silver skin" and use just like chicken. I usually make a curry dish on rice.
If you plucked it.....deep fried is really good.
Good luck and congrats on your bird. It is quite an accomplishment.

I can certainly vouch for the deep fryer method. Very tasy and goes great with a nice bottle of red wine.

I plan to use the legs for a turkey soup! At least 1 breast will go north this fall for a deer hunting snack. Plan to cube up a breast... wrap in bacon... add small amt of BBQ sauce and bake in oven. YUM... come on deer hunting season! I have done whole turkeys and remember this is a lean turkey and not a butterball. Still very good baked.

Well i tried a pressure cooker this spring with great results.
Did the legs, boiled them first to get blood out, then put in p/c for 1/2 hour.
meat fell off the bone, pieced it out and made pot pies, yum yum.
Next took breast put chicken broth and some seasonings in p/c, cooked 1/2 hour, brought it north for fishing trip and the boys loved it. Added gravey to the mix and surved it up.

We do as others have posted with the drums , just to get the meat off the bone , the thighs I debone and grind up the meat and make burgers or use in any ground meat recipe , the breast we make ka-bobs or poppers but are main stay is quesadillas , just mix some cubed up breast meat and some El- Paso seasoning and fry it up in a pan and then assemble your quesadillas
