CC's Caramel Apple Pie |
|
This is a creattion my daughter and I came up with when were looking for the Ultimate Apple pie recipe. We hunted a bunch of websites and took the ideas we liked and put them together.
Now for the pie(9inch version)
apples peeled and sliced 1/8 thick or thinner, we use about 7 cups or as much as we can pack inside the crust.
1.5 tablespoons butter sliced up
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup raisins
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
mix together in a really big bowl and spoon into the bottom crust. It should be domed well above the pie plate. Roll the top crust over the filling and crimp the edges. Cut slits in the top to release stean from all those apples.
I preheat the oven to 450 and reduce the heat to 425 when I put the pie in to bake, roughly 45 minutes. You can cover the edges with foil or a pie ring if you don't like a crisp crust.
The butter and brown sugar melt while baking to create a yummy carmel sauce for the apples, way too good, the pie is lucky to last a day, so we usually make them 2 at a time
