Hi everyone.

Great forum!

I fish mostly fly rod and spinning reel in the Haliburton area...greatest recent obsession is chasing brookies and this year has been great. Smallies are hittin hard now too.

I just got my first baitcast outfit and it has been a bit of a learning curve over the last two weekends... kind of an old dog new tricks thing...Youtube videos have been a great help in learning about this type of reel and how to avoid and how to recover from birdnests....i am getting the hang of it now with some great fish

I am heading out tonite to Haliburton for a solid week of fishin'...will report in when i return.

Brookies

Good Luck!

Hey Brookies, I was in your area last week, near Carnarvon on Kushog Lake. Caught some nice smallies and a really nice Largemouth, which I'm told, are not caught in that lake very often.
