I am not sure but likely means post spawn fall salmon in the rivers and creeks. The colour changes from silver to a dark brown almost black. Not a fair catch as they can be snagged and not legally caught or already dead in the rivers and creeks.

Scrimmy, Torpedo divers don't make good whackers. They have a tendency to bend near the tail when salmon whacking and will not track straight again.
