Hey everyone I just started fishing last summer and I really like it but one thing that im having troublle with is catching the fish I have tried for salmon, trout, bass, panfish, walleye, pike and I have gotten skunked all year. I have tried almost every lure on every fish and i cant catch them could someone give me some advice
I think im not using my lures right or somenthing but it seems like nobody at any fishing store wants to help or explain anything to me very well all I do is get snags and snap line. So if some of you had some detailed advice i would greatly appreciate it

Hey Jordon welcome to the site. In here we have guys that are specialty fisherman that will be more knowledgable for one type of fishing over the other... your dilema is one that we've all had one time or another. First you need to pick the lure to match the type of fish your targeting, then watch the water deepth your fishing to avoid snags.. some bait suspend and some are shallow it will tell you on the box when you buy it, keep them in their own section so you'll remember which one sink and which one float... Use a tough stronge line and don't be affraid to spark up a conversation with someone fishing along side you, most will give you some tips... most important take your time and don't get frustrated...

Jordan I believe your doing all the things right to catch fish that your after... as for Sarnia your on your own unless you can find someone up there but if your down in this neck of the woods I know many places to catch all types of fish and if not I know some very knowledgable people that would help out in a second... What I was trying to pass along is right baits for the depth of the water to avoid the snags you talked about... number one rule is patience... I don't care if your fishin Musky or crappie... patience and trial and error....
You got the power plant, and all the mouths of the creeks down there... go stand around and keep an eye on what the others are using and their technigue. ask questions..
Nobody is born a fisherman, they become one................ good luck

Keep experimenting. Eventually you'll find something that works for you.
I'd recommend trying sarnia bay for bass in the summer. Start by the beach, cast a few times then take a few steps left. repeat until you find some fish.

grats at getting rid of the skunk, jordan. I was the guy fishing beside you who caught the bass. Hopefully you catch more than a perch next time around.
